NSW Energy saving Sheme, Sydney Electricians

NSW has an energy saving scheme in place for commercial and retail customers. The scheme is designed to lower the greenhouse emissions in to the environment by reducing the amount of carbon generated from electricity; also lowering the energy consumption will prolong the need to build more power plants.

The NSW government and IPART, The Independent Pricing and Regulatory. Have devolved a way to measure the amount of labour that is saved when energy saving activity have taken place, and can issue these savings in the form of carbon credits. Carbon credit can then be trade to energy retailers via approved trading organisations.

The NSW government has also caped the amount of electricity that can be brought at a disconnect rate, and one way to overcome the cap is to purchase carbon credits which enables the energy retailer to purchase more disconnect electricity to on sell to the consumer.

Some Activates that are taking place to save electricity are swapping halogen down lights for compact and LED down lights in many case this activity will generate enough carbon credit to cover the supply and installation of the new light fittings, replacing old 36w florescent fittings to new electronic 28w fluorescent lamps and installing light control such as timer and movement sensors.

We recommend changing your back battery once every year and testing the alarm every 6 months to ensure correct Operation. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us today.

Types of Smoke Alarms

Despite its small size, a Smoke alarm is essential in any home and a great piece of security. Not only does a Smoke alarm detect Smoke but it also sounds an alarm to alert residents of heavy smoke or fire.

Photoelectric and Ionisation smoke alarms are the 2 types of Smoke Alarms available today. Each alarm detects smoke and fire at different stages.

Photoelectric Smoke Alarms

Photoelectric smoke alarms are able to detect smoke before there is a fire present. These types of alarms are sensitive to early stage smoke and allow residents to exit the premises at an earlier stage as the air is still safe to breath.

Ionisation Smoke Alarms

Ionisation smoke alarms generally detect the smell of smoke from flames and are widely used to detect fast flaming fires. Breathing issues may occur as this type of Smoke alarm takes relatively longer to respond. Visibility may also be an issue when trying to exit a room or building.

Greg’s weekly Tip surge protection device

It is great idea to install surge protection device to protect your sensitive equipment, such as computers, TV and audio equipment that may not be covered under your insurance

Lightning strikes, mains electrical faults and even branches falling onto power lines during a storm can cause surges. Surges are voltage spikes measuring several thousands of volts that travel down the power lines, through the electrical switchboard and into customers’ electronic equipment.

The best Protection is to have Surge Protection Devices fitted to your main switch board by a qualified electrician, and in conjunction with surge protection boards that have indication light to notify you if there has been a voltage strike , this should be install on your power outlets.
